Carpathian Forest is a very special black metal band, and i think and hope they'll always be, although - this album has to be their least interesting yet.
it feels as if the band gone through some commercialization through the years, and this album lacks the emotion that bursts out of albums such as "Strange Old Brew" and especialy "Black Shining Leather".
but after all, i prefer this album over any other average black metal one.

this album is fucking amazing, it's not the best one, but it's not comemrcial at all and it's so fucking cold an agressive that it can crush your head, i don't think that keyboards make this album commercial, it creates colder atmosphere, they used kayboards in their ealry work, so yeah, HAIL CF

I was in a good mood for several weeks after getting this album. It's just that damn good. The only thing that might discourage some of the true black metal freaks out there is that the album does make you feel good after listening to it. It's really interesting to listen to, and the keyboards/synths are used brilliantly. The drumwork is killer, and the album really has significant impact on your skull after each listen. Nattefrost's vocals are amazing, and he stands head and shoulders above most black metal vocalists. Carpathian Forest has managed to maintain their misanthropic and hateful edge, but their music has added character, which is especially evident in songs like "Put to Sleep Like a Sick Animal" and "Christian Incoherent Drivel". Their music still sounds evil, but now there's simply more to it, and for that reason I enjoy it more than any of their other material.

This album made my day when i first listened to it.
Carpathian forest in my point of view are much less appricaited that the 3 major bands in the black metal scene (maYhem Emepror and Immortal) but they are just as evil and dark.
Look for nattefrost's solo album "blood and vomit" - also some great stuff

well. this album is good. it has a great groove mixed with true black metal. but there is no song that kicks all asses. some good stuff but the great inferno is missing. a "normal" Album from an "abnormal" band

The loss of Nordavind may have lost a facet to there music, there are less atmospheric songs on this one. Still very good stuff though, we will see where they go with the next one, hopefully its a little less one dimensional than Nattefrost's Blood and Vomit

This record is sick. Nattefrost has the best vocals of any BM vocalist. Very brutal piece of work. Evil as fuck angry as fuck.
