Kreator (back in 1989)
The started off in 1983 like a Slayer rip-off. Almost no musical abilities whatsoever, but they became famous with their unlimited agrression and energy. by the time they released their third Album "Terrible Certainty" they had learned to play their instuments (and how!) and combine musicallity with their superb aggression. Especially vocalist/guitarist Mille knows how to play those typical thrashy guitar-riffs, looking back he probably wrote some of the best guitar-riffs in thrashmetal during the late eighties. And also his high screaming vocals were something never to forget and always to recognise immediately.

"Extreme Aggression" Is probably the hightlight of their career!! Their best thrashmetalalbum. Not the most aggressive one (That honour goes to their second album "Pleasure to Kill) but it IS the best one.
Really fast and aggressive songs like 'Extreme Aggressions' and 'Betrayer' are really packed and loaded with ingenious guitarriffs and breaks. Not to mention the almost hysterical vocals, he screams out his anger like never before. Like the openingsentence to 'Betrayer' in which Mille screams/sings: "This is a song which I use to describe what I feel about people like you". A simple line but says it all and a superb fast and aggressive song follows. I think one of their, or maybe, their best song ever.
Also this album has songs like 'Some Pain will Last' which is not so fast but full of tension and anger without becoming chaotic but remaining in that midtempo 'threatening' feeling.
Other songs that are too good to be ignored are 'No Reason to Exist', 'Love us or hate us' and 'Stream of Consciousness'.
Lyrics about aggression, different views and experiences. About betrayal, youthproblems, depression.

If I had to make a top 10 of favorite eighties thrashmetal albums this one will surely be in it!!!

when you listen to this album you will realize why i consider kreator the best thrash metal band in the world. the songs on this record spread pure anger and hatred! forget all the other "brutal" bands that write aggressive songs just to be the most aggressive band of all, although they sometimes have nice sing-along songs they will never be like kreator. the anger on this record is real, the lyrics and the vocals actually make you feel it yourself, that is what makes the band so great!

i started listening to this band when pleasure to kill came out.i got it because they were from germany, and i thought destruction is from germany so i'd give it a try. was i ever impressed. this cd. is by far the best the band has came out with(in my opinion).everything is there from mille's vocals being the best to the guitars being crushing. ventor does alot of double bass, witch is ok with any band, as long as its a good band. love us or hate us it doesn't matter to me. i don't want to be a part of this sick society

Whoa. I should dig deeper into Kreator. I just cleansed my ears with this masterpiece and man, you NEED this album if you don't already own it. Vicious old-school thrashmetal with Mille's relentlessly blasting vocals, razor-sharp riffs and bone-dry production.

The lyrics are a strong point here; all real-world related and sometimes pretty serious, like in Bringer of Torture. Here the Bringer is not some lame Satan or Evil One... But someone much closer to home.

Solid as a rock, this one. One of their very best.
