This one is a rather neglected album. If there wasn't the trip-hop song (cocaine chic) which is surely boring, i would say that is a masterpiece similar to "Like Gods...".
Varying from slow to mid-tempo and fast ,this is how doom metal should be played!

I have never feel so sad and mirthless hearing a song and reading lyrics like I feel with the song 'light at the end of the world'. This song is terribly homesick. Hail to MDB.

For the guy in de line up... "the light at the end..." is a song of the album from the same name (obviusly). Now, about 34,788% I never understand why so many people feel guilty for been pleasing whit this wonderfull piece of art. I now that has trip hop parts, so what? . The greats lyrics, the sadness and loneliness that makes me feel put this concept far away of any conception

A very unwelcome cd for most of the fans...
Personally I think this album simply kicks ass as all My Dying Bride's releases do.
10/10

If you can find "the whore the cook and the mother" somewhere else, then get it somewhere else, otherwise this album is worth buying for that song alone.

It was incredible, what a strange album after the romantic 'Like Gods Of the Sun'. Where is the romanticism now ? This music is depressive as hell, as the middle part of the first song, one of the most haunting passages I have ever listened, what a great song and what a cool lyrics.
Yeah the album lyrics are very good, but the music is not so good, probably due to the production, not very 'doom metal'. Der Uberlebende is another cool song, and Heroin Chic rules too, seriously ! Very original and well written, doesn't leave you indifferent. And Apocalypse Woman, very intense and great vocal display by Aaron, one of the highlights of the album.
The next song is a bit boring, and the final is OK. The artwork is pretty good, nice one Aaron !!!
This album deserves several listenings, so be patient and enjoy, and forget that the band is MDB.

I was quite disappointed with this album. I find it boring, I don't like those parts on which they talk on the phone. I prefer Like Gods of the Sun, which is surely heavier.

It seems that "34.788%.. complete" marked the end of certain period for the band. While My Dying Bride's previous albums (despite their sometimes drastic changes) stayed within narrow frames of doom genre, 1998's release is in the genre of it's own. Loosing grip on sombre, gothic inspired imagery in favour of modern-day misery is a bold step considering majority of band's fanbase. Needless to say, many people felt betrayed at first and slagged the album on a major scale, even played with album's title to ridicule it.
To put it simple: "34.788%" is a collection of unorthodox approach, interesting concepts and ideas. Every song has a sound of it's own, a structure that doesn't repeat itself and throughout bitterness. And as for the outcome, in my opinion the album is phenomenal and fresh. Even years after. Like it or not, that's the most avant-garde doom metal band can go without loosing it's own identity. Alone, that attempt to go forward deserves respect.

This album takes all his meaning in the long time. And based level erotica one of the most intense song of MDB's setlist.
For me definitely one of the greatest album ever.
