wow this has got to be another GREATEST ALBUM from them! it is more symphonic than any other of their releases! but.....what on bloody earth is up with the first track!?!?! it sounds like one of those songs that would be accepted in a rave or in a goth club, ya know? oh well, i still like it, it's just odd. this is also their FASTEST release, just to say! i give it 10/10!

Excellent symphonic black metal!!!, I always said that Old man child is the brother of Dimmu Borgir (musically talking), they have similar musical structures, but Old Man Child is not a copie of DIMMU BORGIR, absolutely not... Old man child is very original, ¨Revelation 666¨is a grand production, hypnotysing keyboards... enchantment melodies... Galder is a really, really musical genious...

Okay, I rarely judge an album by the band's other works, but I am going to use In Defiance of Existence as a reference point for this review. While this album surprised me at first because it lacked the mind blowing intensity of "Defiance," the symphonic quality and dark ambience almost makes this album great. While I give it and 8/10, there are some bland passages that make this not quite as good as "Defiance" or even "Flickering". For one the riffs on "Hominis Nocturna" are bland at times and the rythym and keyboard changes are very predictable. Not to mention are drawn out breakdown in "Phantoms of Mortem Tales" which is rather forgettable. Also the production is not particuarly my style on this one. While this production does let the haunting elements of the keyboards come into play on most of the songs, especially "In Black Endless Void" the vocals are all but buried and the meaty layers of guitar are pushed back in the mix which gives the sound a kind of mono-layer effect. The 2nd half of this album is stronger than the first, even though the bridge in "Passage to Pandemonium" is lifted right off of "Trapped Under Ice." And while Chirs Barber lends beautifully crafted drum layers to "Defiance," the only two songs on here which feature brilliant drum work are "World Expiration" and Into Silence Embrace." Don't get me wrong, this is a fine addition to my black metal collection, as the insanity of "Obscure Divine Manifestation" relates, just don't purchase this thing expecting it to blow your brains out.

This album is great, I can go through the whole cd and enjoy every single song, The keyboards are amazing, and the rest of the music.
