Death of the Sun

1. Death Of The Sun

When skies darkened
and the nation called
men stood at arms
heralding the death of the sun

i have seen the world through vultures eyes
from the highest of places, in the deepest of nights
all the earth in my perception
the past and future as one conception

i have run the trail as a wolf, as a ghoul
as cold as grave, as fierce as a flame
i have howled its hunger and sunken my teeth
to the ribcage of life and reality

i have known the world in all its emptiness
i have seen beginning and ends, so meaningless
the individual tragedies
and grandscale catastrophies

i have lived a million finales
each dying wish i have heard
i have thrived in the decay of cultures
as a god, as a man, in the blazing inferno

death of a planet
is the birth of a star
fire and blood, the rise and the fall
on the first day i will swallow the sun
and shine in utter darkness
i am the death of the sun
i am the end

2. Man Of Silent Waters

i lie beneath the flame tonight
i bow before my death
beginning now meets end
and the water whispers my name

over bleak, darkening waters
and bottomless depths
towards the solemn shores
towards places unseen

from the grey came rowing
the man of silent waters
his boat glides across the lake
nothing stirs in his wake

over the unforgiving water
silent, black and calm
towards forgotten lands
towards the great unknown

3. The Sleepless And The Dead

sleep brings no joy to me
the shadows of the dead
which my waking eye
may never see

my soul is given unto misery
the memories never die
my soul is given unto misery
and lives on in sighs

sleep brings no rest for me
in soundest of sleep they come
with their nightmarish imagery

my only wish is to forget
in endless sleep of death
yet my harrassed heart still beats
the sleepless and the dead

sleep brings no hope to me
the shadows come alive
they wait. Patiently.
They wait. Wait for me.

My only is wish is to forget
in endless sleep of death
yet my harrased heart still beats
the sleepless and the dead

4. Pale Departure

through the wintry lamp light
fell sleek white snow
a lone gull, december pale
with wings cleaving the chilled air

above the mist clad harbour
where time stands still
she stares at the pitch black sea
lost in its grim beauty

like an angel of death
the white veil shadows her black soul
long beyond hope
the snow covers all memories

a pale departure of hope
these bleak days seem like years

radiant as a haunting spirit
in the frost white light
the gull swept past her and disappeared
into the deep black sky

a pale departure of hope
these bleak days seem like years
in the dark rivers of the heart
a pale departure of hope

5. The Pale Hours

a sense of movement in silent rooms
dust was raised in ascending spirals
papers rustled in empty grates
the wind whistles through rotting frames

a sense of movement in silent rooms
it was the wind that made the trees move
creating faint shadows that fell throught the cracks
their shades drifting across the old mirror

for she comes to me still
in the lost time
between sleep and wake
in the pale hours

a sense of movement in the silent rooms
the world reflected in the mirror, subtly different
lonely shape moving within its depths
finding no companion in the old house

it was the wind
just the wind

a sense of movement in the silent rooms
it was the wind that carried these images
of unknown past, a pale forgotten memory
through the glass, into another reality

it was the wind
just the wind

6. Inside

dreams fade in the daylight
but its always dark on the inside

I have lost my way – no devotion
I have gone too far – no devotion

on the inside
the light will disappear
one the inside
it was never here
on the inside
unredeemable sins

doomed to walk the night alone
some ghosts just refuse to die

runes once carved, still aflame
galders once sung, still echoing
path once chosen, coming to an end
no turning back, I am going all the way

7. Cursed Be The Men

the haunts of men, beneath the dying sun
swarming with creatures, echoing with emptiness
build with sorrow and tears and human dust
lost in the ocean of nothingness

cursed be the men
and their haunts
cursed be the gods
above and below

the haunts of men, beneath the dying sun
places of worship, death, pain and suffering
build from the ashes of man and oak and pine
never ending circle, the vipers swallows its own tail

8. Where Spirits Walk The Earth

these woods have no pathways
where spirits walk the earth
with heavy steps that leave no footprints
by an old burial ground, a shimmering chant

from the depth of these mists
whispers from a black river
sense of movement in the still forest
the restless sleepers leave their eternal beds

trails unseen to mortal eyes
where spirits walk the earth
where the undead walk beyond the night
once great, great once more

words and songs of the swamps
long ago sunken again surface
runes and spells once carved
ablaze again on the now fallen trees

your pride is gone
singer of songs
yet in your tunes
still is your glory

carved in these woods
whispered to the winds
within each line
your everlasting story

your colours faded
soil for singers
in these meadows
and in these trees

reclaiming past glory
in these woods
forever more
your wisdom lingers

9. Rust Feathers

down they came, sparrows and crows
down they came, with blackwings unknown

falling down like icy rain
sang to me of summers end

rust on black feathers
under the dying sun
rust on black feathers
bathing in the greyest light

down they came, dreams and hopes
swallowed by dark autumn dread

dreams once dreamed are all now dead
blown away by the freezing winds
