The album "the red in the sky is ours" from At The Gates is a must have classical album for every loyal fan of death metal. This album mixes melodies with death/black music mixed with the old school death metal high pictched vocals. Its sound is also perfect. Good bass sound, good drums everything is there. This album is awsome. Its those albums that make you head bang and play air guitar for almost all the songs.Kill for it. | Review by: Decapitiser This album is At the Gates' masterpiece! Amazing progressive death metal. They don't play the same riff twice, but it flows very smoothly and is very accessible. A classic, get it! Review by: God of Emptiness This album is genious and you're all fucking queers if you don't hear it. It's filled with a lot of ideas, being actually the first full-length At The Gates album. So, dig in! Review by: Anselmo This album bores me. At The Gates decide that sticking with four our five good riffs is a really bad idea, because actually being able to identify a song is apparently of little value. The vocals are more subdued that later on, more of a growl than a shriek; not bad, but not fantastic like on later efforts. Guitar melodies are often faceless, idiomatic death metal styled ones, as opposed to the memorable and timeless lead work on say, Non Divine from WFIKTBD. I cannot recommend this album to anyone other than a completist, or a fan of Grave and that sort of early Swedish death metal. Review by: TheWelkinAtDusk Great great great. I heard it to late to be enthusiastic about it. But hell its marvellous. Highlight is Through the gardens of grief. Shocking cello at the end of a song, Out of a fucking blue. In my opinion its the only album of ATG that can compete with Dark Tranquility. Great. Review by: Mac Very good atmospheric death metal. This is one of the few death metal albums that actually make me shiver, almost every band tries to play as hard and fast as they can and forget the atmosphere...but this is just great. Much better than over-rated "Slaughter Of The Soul". Try Review by: metal4ever technical , brutal and times and sweetly melodic as well - good job. Review by: error
