Fucking good record, should be apart of any self respecting Metal fan's collection. Production is old, but she is sweet!, Byron's voice changing like the wind, with raw and majestic riffs clashing head on !

HAIL BAL SAGOTH

One of the toughest and most terryfying albums i've heard , if you think emperor is the most extreme sympho-black , listen to this, unfortunetly bal-sagoth never came back to the strength of this album , i still consider albums like 'atlantis...' and 'the power cosmic' as very good albums , but they are much more commercialised and sounding much much more happy, i guess this is the release you should first hear. 95 / 100

This is truly one of the Darkest, Cosmically Entraning, majestic and Viscous albums ever to diabollically and beautifully curse a great darkness upon us. Songs Like "Dreaming of Atlantean Spires" "A Black Moon broods over Lemuria" "Neath the Black Pyramid" and "In the silent chambers of the sapphirean Throne" are some of the Most Furious, Soulgrinding, demented, Brutal, haunting and Beautiful Songs Ever. Byron is a True Blackened December Soul of Moonblood and Astrological Poetry. A Great and Conquering Release.

This is a decent album, though to be honest I've never much cared for the dramatic and rather cheesy narrations that are a staple of every Bal-Sagoth album. This one, I believe, is generally known to be more 'death metal' than their other albums, and thats pretty true, mostly because of the vocals and that one song, ravenous or ravishing or something or other. Still, pretty epic, definitely melodic, but songs seem to be rather boring and then have one major part that is entertaining. Some might say this is a band utilizing clever compositional technique, but it's not, it's just a band that doesn't have the best feel for balance within a song. Still, its fairly enjoyable cheesy hybrid metal.
