The Olden Domain is one of the most brillant Folk Black Metal art I ever heard in my life. In this album, the music is angressive and charming black metal and all the song are awesome. ALL THE SONG !!!. Espacially "The Winterway". This song is so great that every BM fan should have hear it one time. | Keep the flame burning Borknagar, Folk Emperor !!!! Review by: darkann Borknagar - The Olden Domain When I first heard "The Olden Domain", it wasn't very good. The concept of mixing black metal with folk was interesting, but not very well executed. But the more I listened, the better it came. Now, after repeating the record for at least 500 times, I've come to the conclusion that it's truly a masterpiece. The mixing of drums is very loud, which doesn't allow any other instrument to stand out. Melodies are now not only better heard, but also very interesting. The two instrumentals, "Om Hundrede aar er Alting Glemt" and "Ascension of our Fathers", fit in very well, but the standout songs are "The Eye of Oden", "A Tale of the Pagan Tongue", "To Mount and Rode" and "The Dawn of the End". Garm's vocalwork isn't now as good as it was on "Borknagar" which is mainly because of the lack of the screams. His shrieks are based around one song "Grimland Domain", which in fact starts with them. Not as enjoyable song as the others mentioned before. This record will come in very handy when searching more peaceful music. If you're tired to the depressive doom, try some "The Olden Domain". It will give you some variation. Rating: 5 out of 5 Review by: Punisher Well , for a start i would say that this is in my opinion the best Borknagar product.I must say to the dissapointment of the late period fans that this album thoroughly exceeds even the highly praised Quintessence. It offers Garm's majestic vocals as well as the viking-confusing atmosphere which is quite an original element not to be found at other BM bands. I am a huge fan Arcturus but Garm had his day on The Olden Domain , this is his best work . For a BM novice this is an album that HAS to be listened to. Review by: Lucinski well, this is really in general a very god cd, i'm holding it now, but let me say in parts: song 01: Brilhant! the best in my opnion, the "shattered shields" stay in your head fr hours! song 02: very good song 03: I dont like very much of instrumental, but this one is cool. song 04/05/06: Great! song 07: I dont like very much of instrumental song 08: is good... Review by: Northvisions great fucking viking metal is really great is a perfect second album after borkngar great musical job Review by: blot Does this album rule or what?!? Garm has never sounded as good as he does here. His clean vocals are outstanding. The melodies on this album and the clearer songwriting are what distinguish it from the previous release. I really get a viking/sailing the seas type feeling listening to this. A true tribute to our real ancestors. Best Borknagar album by far - nothing beats it! Review by: shanewick
