This makes no sence to me, it's a good compilation of some of their best songs, all of which appear to be appriciated here judging by the ratings, so why such a low rating? After all, B-sides don't count, although some of them are nice... Ah well, strange world.. Review by: Lokist this cd is a mediacre cd its got bad ass zolos and i think if you dont like it fucof Review by: arzenal CDADLE OF FILTH Lovecraft and Witch Hearts: Gothic Black Metal This two disk cd is suppossed to be a greatest hits album but is more like the good shit (on disk one) and the bad shit (on disc two) album. While the first disk contains a lot of their good songs the second contians a lot of crappy remixes as well as a lot of even crappier techno remixes and just some crappy songs. I think Dani Filth needs a slap in the face for this release, the coverart is very missleading. The only other black metal band I hate is Immortal, but at least they have some minimal talent, unlike these guys who have none. After I heard some of The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, I decided that I would NOT be listening to COF. Mainly because all the songs I heard were boring and gay. However a friend of mine, who happens to be a big fan of COF (why?) talked me into listening to this album. He even offered to burn it for me with his CD. Reluctantly, I accepted. Seriously this album blows. COF is still as shit as they were 8 years ago. Honestly the only good thing COF has EVER offered the black metal scene are cool song names like Graveyard by Moonlight and A dream of wolves in the snow. This should boast cool lyrics, unfortuantley, they don't. 9 out of 10 times, COF's lyrics are one dimensional, where Dani is squealing about how and why he cannot get laid. Also COF now has some really lame song names like Once Upon Atrocity and Lustmord and Wargasm...err WTF? OK, so apart from everything else wrong with COF, their music ain't much better and this album proves it. Took about overstaying their welcome. Fuck, they'd over stay it if this album was longer than 5 fucking minutes. Dani's vocals are without question, the worst black metal vocals I've ever heard, they are just annoying and the music is boring...very boring. The only good thing I can say about this is that they are some cool melodies, but they are always either ruined by Dani doing something gay or the boring heavy parts of the song (which aren't really heavy anyway). Classic example: Beneath the howling stars (cool song name, weak lyrics) the intro is cool so we have 15, no wait 8 seconds were COF is really good. The rest of the song sucks balls. All in all there are 5 minutes of good music out of 143 minutes....Talk about an inexcuseable album. DO NOT buy this unless you're into really shit music like COF and new Dimmu borgir. I liked the fact that there were previously unreleased songs on it, but I think there were some songs that should have been on it and some songs that shouldn't have.
