For me Blackheim is one of the best composer of melodic- heavy-black and this album is a real proof of the fact. There's a lot of good heavy riffs and dark atmospheres. On the other end the last track is unusually catchy, which is quite rare on any black metal album, though quite good indeed. There is also a funny break in the first song, with a girl calling someone and a demon replying with a deep guttural voice that made me laugh... This aspect of the album will certainly shock the die-hard fans of black music but it would be a mistake not to pay attention to this masterpiece. | Review by: Moloch This is a tremendous album, it's been a long time since I last listened to an album that astounded me. It is melodic balck metal and when i say melodic, it is as such indeed. No wonder Blackheim's favourite album is Emperor's "In The Nightside Eclipse", a fabulous example of melodic black metal. Anyway, it is a wonderful thing to listen to all those friendly riffs, seemingly raw but when coupled with those majestic keyboards, the result is magnificent. The vocals are your usual everyday grunts but they fit the background perfectly. What differentiates this band in general from other northern black metal bands is that there is a certain variation of tunes, it is not as linear as others (take Satyricon for instance earlier realeses especially, superb band, but you have to be a genius to create such little variation, yet appeal to so many; such bands are rare and many bore those who listen to them). All in all wonderful music, KUDOS KATATONIA!!! 10/10 Review by: Lucinski
