i bought this one and old mans childs in the shades of life on the same record, its some special edition. as always Dimmu Borgir makes the best black metal you can buy for money. it starts off with Master of Disharmony. Shagrath sings on english this time, not a posetive change i think. | anyway, its an amazing song i just love it. then Devils Path that is just as good , then a cover. This is a must have for any dimmu fan Review by: enthroned Here is Dimmu Borgir's first English-language effort. The music is good, but nothing like the baroque-inspired atmospheric black metal we got from "Stormblåst" or (to a lesser degree) "For All Tid." There are almost no keyboard passages here (which is not entirely a bad thing) and there is much more of an emphasis placed upon lower-string power chords. Master Of Disharmony starts this EP off, and although there's really nothing wrong with it, there isn't much right with it either. The title track is a far better song, in my opinion. I would say that it is the high point of Dimmu Borgir's English-language work. Although it isn't really comparable to the Norwegian-language material, it is able to hold its ground as a good metal song. Next up is a cover of Celtic Frost's Nocturnal Fear. I think this is one of the better songs from Celtic Frost's early days, so it's good to have it done up right by Dimmu Borgir. But for some bizarre reason, they chose to put two versions of it on here. They're a little different, sure, but are they really necessary? No. In any event, I can only mildly recommend this. It's not as disappointing as later material, but it's nothing to shout about. Don't buy it unless you've got some cash to burn.
