Another one masterpiece from Katatonia. More melancholic and darker than Viva emptiness. Great production and Jonas's best vocal lines so far. A MASTER-FUCKING-PIECE !!! Review by: arsenic Yes, it will be POP for some people, but this is a BRILLIANT album, better than Viva Emptiness. Jonas lower his singing tone this time, and it matches the music a lot. Sometimes I feel he tried too hard on Viva Emptiness. Most songs on The Great Cold Distance are great, I like My Twin, Rusted, Soil's Song, Increase, and In The White the most..the others are also good and I just can't think of a bad one, well, may be Leaders ??? The band listens to various kinds of music including mainstream bands such as COLDPLAY and KILLERS, but KATATONIA simply absorbs the merits of the other bands in order to improve themselves !!! Great salute to KATATONIA...always my most favorite band, and The Great Cold Distance has make my NUMBER 1 album of 2006. I don't know why I gave it 9/10 before, but now I gotta give it 10/10 !!!!!!! Review by: Pale light Blah, Blah..but we must to accept that Katatonia is not the same, maybe they had changed the name of the band since Discouraged ones album and left as legacy of the real Katatonia great albums such as "Dance of december souls" or "Brave murder day". A great cold distance is just a good album .I doubt that anyone of those who consider this a masterpiece they never listened to Katatonia on their first albums in early 90. Sorry posers.
