This one was a nice surprise for me after the deception with previous album and the insecurity after all the lineup changes. The sound is more gothic ( or even more because lately the band likes that way ) and less epic, and the principal improvement are the guitars, more inspired this time without long boring riffs or strange trash metal sounding parts. | All the songs are good ( I can't say the same about two previous cds ) so it's a nice experience listening it from start to end and the unique problem that always affect an album's popularity is the lack of a masterpiece or memorable song. To highlight the return of darkest songs like 'Fall with me' with cool leading riff, the fantastic 'A chapter in loathing' since middle part ( I don't like the first vocals though ), middle part of 'My body, a funeral', again middle part of 'Bring Me Victory' or the beginning of 'Shadowhaunt', and the epic 'Death Triumphant'. The intermitent usage of violin adds to the dark/gothic atmosphere of this solid album. Review by: danchloe
