one of tolkien inspired bands that is recomended for all viking/epic fans!! their best album- clear and raw vocs, epic melodies that catch you and carry away in the mystic ancient times...you must have it! | Review by: black-throne The first song I ever heard from Rivendell was "The Long Forgotten Lake" from Poems of Mountains & Forests, in the times when the band used to be called Fangorn. When I heard it, I got hooked up inmediately, so I decided to search for more works of this band. Then "The Ancient Glory" fell into my hands... wow.. this is some good stuff. Falagar knows how to make some really good atmospheres, in my case, creates a weird feeling... like sad but happy at the same time. When i listen to this album I start to feel the need to watch "The Lord of the Rings", songs like Aragorn son of Arathorn and The King Beneath the Mountains are really great. In fact all the lyrics are from the great JRR Tolkien. The Song of Nimrodel Pt. I, starts with a really good flute intro, and the acoustic guitars give it like more epic ambients. Durin's Halls is another great song, more plain and little more powerful that the another ones. Rivendell have some things in common with Falkenbach, another great band. What more can I say, about this great cd???... 10/10 just I will leave you with the Chorus from "Aragorn, son of Arathorn" "All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." Review by: Gaahlfaust
