All of you metal fans out there, hold on to your heads! Your not going to believe what has happened to one of your favorite Gothic Doom bands! They've sold you out, and have gone techno pop. Is this a bad thing, your wondering? For most of you, who get your thrills from heavy doom laden, blast beating, head banging metal, you will probably throw up, after hearing this album. But I, who have an ear for good music, am not dissapointed, at all. Lets face it gang, after "Musique", their last album, you should have seen this coming. This album is akin to what Gnesis did in the late seventies, after the departure of Gabriel. Peter, that is. Liv Kristin, is at the height of her pop-dom with this release, and if any of you think they will retreat back to what they were, forget it! This type of music suits them much better. Liv is trying to compete with all the pop maidens of the world and she is definatly making her mark. So, if any of you are offended by this, don't bother to buy it. Anyway, their is an abundance of other head banging bands out there to keep you happy, you don't need this. If you think this is a complete 360 for a band, wait until you check out 3rd and the Mortals new on, "Memoirs". Now were really getting nuts! Long live Liv! 8 stars!

No theatre, no tragedy...

I wonder why this gothic/doom-band changed their style so much as they suddenly did. Compared to "In velvet darkness", "Aegis" and "Theatre of Tragedy" this is a completely different sound. I don't think ASSEMBLY is bad, bud it's just not Theatre of tragedy; it could be any band playing these tracks. It think if the band wanted to change their style and sound SO much as they did, the most fair would be to change band-name as well. As I said, I don't think ASSEMBLY is bad, it's just not gothic/doom anymore.

I take back what I said in my previous review. This one sucks big time. The music is not even exciting and the lyrics are more than lame!

"Assembly" is in the same style than the "Musique"-album. That means, that this is no Gothic-Metal, but very melodic Industrial-Music.
It's not really a bad album, but I think "Musique" was a little bit better, because of the better songwriting.

Liv Kristine Espenaes has the same great voice like in old Gothic-Metal times, but Raymond's voice sucks totally in their "new style".
This is valid for both albums.

What the hell is this crap. This really sucks. Their doom metal stuff is much better!

When I first heard this record I thought "what the hell?!". I mean... Musique was ok I guess but this was really weirdo-dance-gothic-freaky stuff. But even at the first listen, I did like the beginning of Automatic Lover, with its cool sounding drum, keyboard textures, riffing guitars and nice vocals. Then after 2 or more listens, I started to like the entire record. I gave this record a 9. It might make purists puke when they hear it, but it's a good musical effort.

The Band to keep their electronic influences in and thus builds on the predecessor. Rock / Metal elements come here even less to use what maybe not to everyone's taste. The album brings with it many ear worms and thus has a high recognition value.
