this is what diversity means to ulver, the most innovative blackmetal band of all time. i was mesmerize by all the harmonies. as if your walking to a forest forlorn. evocative a capellas of the viking master garm. a silent yet mystique album. | Review by: jeurus As usual, one can expect nothing but perfection from ULVER. This album is just dripping with atmosphere - an elegy to the ages of long past and the Night! The folk influence is most apparent here - track 12 sounds an awful lot like a traditional European waltz. Great stuff! Listen to this album on a crisp Autumn night in a forest next to a campfire. Highly recommended!!! Review by: Ankou Ulver - Kveldssanger However the diversity of Ulver is most apparent here, the "Kveldssanger" -album fails to please me completely. With the high expectations after "Bergtatt", what could one expect? The album is definately not bad. The acoustic parts of Ulver are always great, but when you have to make a whole record of acoustic parts, then it's going to be difficult. Emphasizing the whole concept, the atmosphere parallel to "Bergtatt" is not easily to be found, but the symphonic and melancholic atmosphere is very much reminiscent to "Bergtatt"'s mood. Songwriting was challenging, and I doubt if the whole strengh has concentrated in five songs: "Ostenfor Sol og Västenfor Maane", "Ord", "Honsjeldsbilde", "Kveldssang" and "Ulvsblakk". The mainly melancholic notes are where Ulver has always been UNBEATABLE, but even the master sometimes slips. "Kveldssang" is excellent album when you don't compare it with "Bergtatt". The atmosphere is one of a kind. Like my prereviewer said, the mood is optimal when listened in a summer(note, not autumn)night in front of a fire. Very good, highly recommended. Rating: 4,5 out of 5 Review by: Punisher Simply a flok music, I don't know if it a metal music or not. But it's realy a masterpiece. When you feel tired of traditional metal music. You can get the peace in your mind in this music. Review by: haycheese "Kveldsfanger" is the second Ulver's album, and it is also the second part of a fantastic trilogy, begun with "Bergtatt" and finished with "Nattens Madrigal". This cd is pure norwegian folk, no electric guitars or screams at all. "Kveldsfanger" contains 13 tracks of wonderful acoustic music, made prevalently with classical guitars, flutes and violins. Vocals are clean and in certain parts there are some choirs. There are several instrumental songs. All that I said until now regards the objective view of this album... My personal feelings when I listen to this album could hardly be described... This music brings an incredible emotive tension, a timeless atmosphere and the sense of a past age never to come back. This is not the classic FolkPaganVikingEpic album, this is true art, which immortalises lost emotions with a sensibility rarely seen anywhere else. My rating: 95 out of 100 Review by: Maeror This album must be listen at the night in a forest! Review by: Beyto
