Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell is not what we can call and easy to heard album, but not for that is a bad album. Certanly we are not hearing the black mettal Ulver that we were used to know. For me honestly the first times that i heard this cd i didnīt know how to react. When we acept the evolution of this band, and decided to heard what they are trying to tell to us, we can really get it. This is not only a music work, this is certanly poetry, we cannot judge this work if we only heard it, we need to heard it reading the Blake texts. | This is not mettal, but that does not make it a piece of shit. If ya are the one of the closed minds of course that this will not be a stuff ya must try, but if ya like da good music. Try the experience. Review by: Arthaghen Only one review for this masterpeice. As I know it's not black metal so many complain, but it's beautiful. This is an album that can but put on at anytime and it is good. Taking this short poetic novella and putting it to music was simply amazing. I have spent a many night with friends around the campfire with drink of choice listening to this album, only wish they would do it again and stop with the soundtracks, I want to hear Garm again. Again an album for the "Diverse metal fan" Review by: Wintermist this is the fourth Ulver album after a mighty doom-death-ed "blackmetal" album, an acoustic folk album, and a totally black metal album... The Marriage of Heaven and Hell is many things together, not just another Ulver album... It is great, godly music up to William Blake's texts with Garm singing more than in any other Ulver album.. If you have read the text you will understand that is the best text that Ulver could arrange.. But most of all it is the thrust that gave Ulver the opportunity to come up with many other "Music" than the ones they used to create in Norway... I can say this is my best Ulver albums because sometimes the only similar thing that they use to their albums are their name.. I can't compare them... If you think that melancholic music is Theatre of Tragedy and Tristania, just ignore this album... It is a risk you must take... A Masterpiece... 9/10 Review by: carheart the first time I listen to Ulver, it was this album, I was quite drunk... The feelings were great! the next day, the second listening keep me in the cloud, electro and heavy guitar sounds perfecly together. An album to get, for sure... Review by: grominoo An excellent work from Ulver.... this album is of a high level of intelligence and complexity,of course not for the narrow-minded ones... ;)it gives an interesting and new perspective of William Blake's writings, the sound being in perfect harmony with the verses-in a philsophical and infernal way....it is a unique and well-structured piece of sound, arranged in a manner of good taste. Review by: shineth in my opinion this is one of the best music concept album ever done! for me it something like "the wall" pink floyd for the world! almost everything on this record is genius. it's totally avantgarde and unexpected creation. ulver outrun their age! Review by: amroth Not so nice release, of course itīs a nice step forwards, and even beyond metal, but the art is always moving and evolving and as a logic result of all the moving and the evolving you canīt consider this as a masterpiece, it has its flaws, but itīs part of the experiment, too many sounds, too many noises and beats, a varied album perhaps, but the only coherent thing here is the lyrics, but this album is quite too much scattered to give the sense of unity that the concept albums have, anyway an enjoyable release, although not perfect Review by: XIBALBA
