1. Pimeyden Aika
Muureissa mustien myrskyjen
alla pinnan palavan maan
haudoilla luiden muinaisten
puiden kuihtuneiden varjoissa
Käy aika korjaten satoaan
Tämä kaiken hävittää
ei eläintä puuta kukkaa eloon jää
se raudan teräksen tuhoaa
kivipaadetkin soraksi hajoittaa
se murskaa kaupungit kuninkaineen
ja sortaa vuoret kuin tuuli laineen
Ei sitä nähdä voi
ei tuntea voi
ei se tuoksu eikä se soi
se on tähtien takana
ja täyttää tyhjänkin kaikkialla
se tulee ensin se tulee myöhemmin
se tappaa naurun elämänkin
Kuin haipuu haltiat kuihtuvan maan
ajan taakka kun selän koukistaa
ei pakoon sitä pääse jumalatkaan
Päivä ensimmäinen
päivä viimeinen
taivaan tulien
lohikäärmeiden
Kaivo pimeyden
loputtoman tyhjyyden
Tämä kaiken hävittää
ei eläintä puuta kukkaa eloon jää
se raudan teräksen tuhoaa
kivipaadetkin soraksi hajoittaa
se murskaa kaupungit kuninkaineen
ja sortaa vuoret kuin tuuli laineen
Ei sitä nähdä voi
ei tuntea voi
ei se tuoksu eikä se soi
se on tähtien takana
ja täyttää tyhjänkin kaikkialla
se tulee ensin se tulee myöhemmin
se tappaa naurun elämänkin
2. Autumn of Lothlorien
I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold
and leaves of gold there grew
of wind i sang, a wind there came
and in the branches blew
beyond the sun, beyond the moon
the foam was on the sea
and by the strand of ilmarin
there grew a golden tree
O Lorien the winter comes, the bare and lifeless day
the leaves are falling in the stream, the river flows away
Beneath the stars of ever eve
in Eldamar it shone
in Eldamar beside the walls
of elven Tirion
there long the golden leaves have grown upon
the branching years
now here beyond the sundering seas
now fall the elven tears
O Lorien too long have i dwelled upon this hither shore
and in a fading crown have twined the golden elanor
But if of ships i now should sing
what ship would come to me
what ship would bare me ever
back across so wide a sea
ai laurie lantar lassi surinen
yeni unotime ve ramar aldaron
yeni ve linte yuldar avanier
si oromardi lisse miruvoreva
andune pella vardo tellumar
nu luini jassen tintilar i eleni
omario airetari lirinen
Ah like gold fall the leaves in the wind
the long years numberless as the wings of trees
the long years have passed like swift draughts
of the sweet mead in lofty halls beyond the west
O Lorien the winter comes, the bare and lifeless day
the leaves are falling in the stream, the river flows away
Wherein the stars tremble in the song of her voice
holy and queenly
who now shall refill the cup for me
for now the kindler Varda the queen of the stars
from mount everwhite has uplifted her arms like clouds
O Lorien too long have i dwelled upon this hither shore
and in a fading crown have twined the golden elanor
now all the paths are drowned deep in shadow
and out of a grey country darkness lies
on the foaming waves between us
and mist covers the jewels of Calacirya
forever
now lost, lost to those from the east is Valimar
Farewell
maybe even thou shall find Valimar
maybe even thou shall find it
Farewell
3. Gloomweaver
An image of despair, the face of fright
devouring the light giving birth to eternal night
Ungolianth the mistress of her own lust
kneel before her yet soon die you must
weaving the webs of unlight
strangled by the ever-growing hunger
filled with a hate towards all things that live
no mercy, no quarter for you shall she give
Hear the blackhearts call
your moment has come, in secrecy we must run
Like storm clouds of their twisted fate
let me show you the way, for their deeds the world must pay
To the trees of light they came
and spilled the blood of life in vain
on the eternal hill of Ezellohar
Melkor struck both trees by a dark blade
The insatiable Ungolianth devoured
what ever light and life remained in them
the land was swallowed by darkness
evening turned to evernight
From the western shores
these fiends escaped
after valinors beauty was violently raped
stealing the jewels of formenos and slaying the king of noldor elves
the Silmarils with them they took, under their cursed feet the earth shook
With one hand you give o blackheart
Yet i still hunger for more
more jewels in that chest you bore
Strangling the lord of lies by unbreakable ties
growing in his eyes would no one hear his cries
to their masters aid the valaraukar came
with their flaming whips drowe Ungolianth away
In her endless hunger she fled
until devouring herself to death
4. The Great Battle
The ground shakes in the north
an army of silver and gold has come forth
hearing the plea of men and elvenkind
The mountains tremble the earth shakes
as the dark ones doom awakes
the air is filled with the hymn of trumpets singing
by the clear sound of silver harps ringing
Unleashing the fury long refrain
towards the master of darkness and pain
this fight will not be in vain
tonight the black and evil blood will rain
Beneath the blackened sky
where the shadows lie
Morgoths reign of darkness and pain
will end in the fire forged by the one
As the dawn comes
light reveals the dead ones
the world you knew is gone
yet the evil deeds can not be undone
The curtain of darkness is lifted
the immortal might marches into battle
never again shall they see the lands of death
after they return to the hidden west
Unleashing the fury long refrain
towards the master of darkness and pain
this fight will not be in vain
tonight the black and evil blood will rain
Beneath the blackened sky
where the shadows lie
Morgoths reign of darkness and pain
will end in the fire forged by the one
Hear the echoes from the distant past
as no world forever lasts
the blackness is washed away
but from the evil seeds we all must pay
5. Kadotettu
Valossa tähtien, valossa kuun
kuva vesien pinnalta heijastuu
muistojen tuoltapuolen
maailman rajojen takaa
ääni hento kutsuu mua
Varjojen katveessa
ikiyön syleilyssä
ei valo polta silmiä
ei kuulu kuiskaus kuolemattoman
tänne maailman loppuun saakka jään
Nyt haipuu kuoleva valo
vedet tummina kuohuina edessäin virtaa
muisto vanha ikiaikainen kadotettu on
ja eron päivä vielä saa
Vanhat vedet syvyyksien
yhden tahdosta nousevat
pois rappion ja noen pyyhkivät
sydämmensä pois kääntäneet nyt aaltoihin haudataan
vanhat vedet syvyyksien
vihassa ja mahdissa nousevat
pois rappion ja noen pyyhkivät
lahjamaa iäksi kadotettu on
Nyt kutsuu aaltojen äänet
levon maailmantakaisen tarjoavat
ikiyössä paikalleni mua pyytävät
niityt ja kukkulat veteen peittyy
vapisevat tornit sylissä tyrskyjen
näin aaltoihin sortuvat
temppelit ja talot
vain Meneltarma myrskyä vielä uhmaa
valkoisena pilviä vasten kohoaa
vaan särkynyt on Numenorin valo
Nyt vedet syvyyden
edessäni mustina nousevat
yksin huipulla mahtavan vuoren
loppuani odotan
Varjojen katveessa
ikiyön syleilyssä
ei valo polta silmiä
ei kuulu kuiskaus kuolemattoman
tänne maailman loppuun saakka jään
Kadonnut muinainen
aaltojen unessa
suorien polkujen tuollapuolen
syvistä vesistä kaipauksen ikuisen
huippu valkea vielä hohteensa heijastaa
Varjojen katveessa
ikiyön syleilyssä
ei valo polta silmiä
ei kuulu kuiskaus kuolemattoman
tänne maailman loppuun saakka jään
Nyt kutsuu aaltojen äänet
levon maailmantakaisen tarjoavat
ikiyössä paikalleni mua pyytävät
niityt ja kukkulat veteen peittyy
vapisevat tornit sylissä tyrskyjen
näin aaltoihin sortuvat
temppelit ja talot
vain Meneltarma myrskyä vielä uhmaa
katoaa vuori ikiaikainen
ja lahjamaa petokseen ylpeyden
6. The Wind
The wind was on a withered heath
but in the forest stirred no leaf
there shadows lay by night and day
and dark things silent crept beneath
The wind came down from mountains cold
older than any story that is told
the grass hissed their tassels bent
the reeds were rattling and on it went
A shaken pool, under the heavens cool
where racing clouds were torn and rent
It passed the lonely mountain bare
and swept above the dragons lair
there black and dark lay boulders dark
and flying smoke was in the air
it left the world and took its flight
over the wide seas of the night
the moon set sail upon the gale
and stars were fanned to leaping light
Of secrets long lost sings the wind
of futures forgotten and the dust of the old
of white bones that lay in the cold
of distant echoes somewhere in time told
Hear the endless call
of hope and regret
mixed as a lamentation
forever singing to the lands
Of dreams long lost sings the wind
of futures forgotten and the dust of the old
of rusty swords and broken bows
of distant echoes and songs of victory
Hear the endless call
of hope and regret
mixed as a lamentation
forever singing to the lands
It passed the lonely mountain bare
and swept above the dragons lair
there black and dark lay boulders dark
and flying smoke was in the air
it left the world and took its flight
over the wide seas of the night
the moon set sail upon the gale
and stars were fanned to leaping light
The wind was on a withered heath
but in the forest stirred no leaf
there shadows lay by night and day
and dark things silent crept beneath
The wind came down from mountains cold
older than any story that is told
the grass hissed their tassels bent
the reeds were rattling and on it went
The day has ended, dim are my eyes
still a journey long before me lies
the wind sings its never-ending song
beneath the eternal and ever bending sky
7. Tower of the Moon
White marble walls
designed to catch and reflect the moonlight
shone with a soft silvery gleam
such beauty in these mortal lands cannot last
the deepest darkness
haunts behind mountains strong and grim
awaiting its time, in the shade growing and taking a form
Flying on black wings
the darkest of kings
sent forth a plague
so many lives to take
Darkness crept to the land of fire
while the guardians watchful gaze was elsewhere
taking back the fields of dust and the cursed vale of Gorgoroth
conquering the tower of the moon
with the blackest of witchcraft and the legions of doom
twisted, poisoned and broken was its light
there sanity was lost and replaced by fright
In this shade of eternal night
once grew a sapling of Nimloth the white
a tree of the mighty kings of Numenor
an image of the silvery tree of light
within it a power of ancient might
untouched by the evil deeds of men
Darkness ruled again the land of terror
were the guard posts were ruined
and decayed by time
spreading across the fields of dust and the cursed vale of Gorgoroth
the twisted corpselight of Minas Morgul that illuminated nothing
shined its cold and sickening glow
the gate once fair and joy to the eyes
now turned to a horrid mouth of wicked silence
Yet still we remember
the beauty of Isildurs city
and in our dreams still walk under the silvery moon
on the streets of Minas Ithil and in the gardens of Ithilien
maybe one day we may return
8. Houses of Pain
I dare you across the bridge
to truly behold the king you call a witch
your foolish ways of your mortal days
are numbered as your kingdoms perish in flames
To my houses of pain i will take you
to my dungeons forsaken by hope
Standing like a fallen star
under the clouding darkness
the horrid mouth of oblivion awaits
for the young king to come forth
o lord of the majestic white tower
beside you your friends and knights cower
your fate sealed by your arrogance
a lesser son of greater fathers
Storms of the earth arise
may the wind heed my command
come, come to mordor we will take you
now your tale and your bloodline is through
There the skies wept
and flowers withered
poisoned were the wells
by black spells
the wind went on wailing
over troubled lands sailing
carried the fading screams
as the gates swallowed all light
Your feeble mortal form
now wishing it was never born
your soul shall be taken of your body
there naked and defiled
shall you stand in front of the lidless eye
To my houses of pain i will take you
to my dungeons forsaken by hope
Storms of the earth arise
may the wind heed my command
come, come to mordor we will take you
now your tale and your bloodline is through
Fallen has the king of men
dragged into the nazguls den
into the tower of witchery
were no one will ever hear his plea
9. To the Land Veiled in Mist
Pale sky now stands before me
leaves grey are dead
to the west our light now must flee
in the gloomy night we shiver
our time has passed
say farewell to these shores
long here did we dwell
Flee from the dark hand
and the fading light
our time here is gone
the world you knew is changed
what once was green
now lies dead and cold
never will return
the good days of old
Grey waves now flow before me
longing my return
to the west where night does not reign
golden flowers still there bloom
and majestic towers marked with runes
stand undefeated and eternal
beside mountains fair
Flee from the dark hand
and the fading light
our time here is gone
the world you knew is changed
what once was green
now lies dead and cold
never will return
the good days of old
With bright steel in hand
shielded by shining armour
to these eastern shores you rose
ursupers and self-made kings
exiled by your ancient sins
hear now the howling winds
Cursed by your pride
to everyone you lied
both pain and beauty
sailed with you
against the dark lord you fought
yet more misery here you brought
leave now and never come back
For our days are ending
and our years failing
i shall pass the wide waters lonely sailing
long are the waves on the last shore falling
sweet are the voices in the lost isle calling
Pale sky now stands before me
leaves grey are dead
to the west our light now must flee
in the gloomy night we shiver
our time has passed
say farewell to these shores
long here did we dwell
Grey waves now flow before me
longing my return
to the west where night does not reign
golden flowers still there bloom
and majestic towers marked with runes
stand undefeated and eternal
beside mountains fair
10. Lost in the Waves
An elven maid there was of old
a shining star by day
her mantle white was hemmed with gold
her shoes of silver grey
Her hair was long
her limbs were white
and fair she was and free
and in the wind she went as light
as leaf of linden tree
Where now she wanders
none can tell
in sunlight or in the shade
for lost of yore was Nimrodel
and in the mountais strayed
The elven ships in haven grey
beneath the mountain lee
awaited her for many a day
beside the roaring sea
When dawn came dim
the land was lost
the mountains sinking grey
beyond the heawing waves that tossed
her blooms of lightning spray
Amroth beheld the fading shore
alowe beyond the swell
and cursed the faithless ship that bore
afar from Nimrodel
When dawn came dim
the land was lost
the mountains sinking grey
beyond the heawing waves that tossed
her blooms of lightning spray
From helm to sea they saw him leave
as arrow from the string
and dive into the water deep
as mew upon the wing
the wind was in his flowing hair
the foam about him shone
afar they saw him strong and fair
go riding like a swan
But from the west has come no word
and on the hither shore
no tidings elven folk have heard
of Amroth evermore
11. Come Down with Us
No wind in this cursed place blows
nothing stirs beneath the evergray sky
a cold that chills the heart and the bone
in these marshes you will forever be alone
in fear and regret your days will end
in the embrace of still water
Come down with us
Come down to the muddy waters
Come here where only serpents and malicious spirits dwell
Come down with us
Come down to the eye of the bog
Come here to the deeper end
and light a candle of your own
Cold be heart, cold be bone
cold be foolish travellers far from home
for they do not see what lies ahead
now that the sun has failed and the moon is dead
Come down with us
Come down to the muddy waters
Come here where only serpents and malicious spirits dwell
Come down with us
Come down to the eye of the bog
Come here to the deeper end
and light a candle of your own
Cold be heart, cold be bone
cold be foolish travellers far from home
for they do not see what lies ahead
now that the sun has failed and the moon is dead
The smoke fills your lungs
just before the final plunge
into the mirky waters
that embrace you on these last moments
Forever here shall your spirit dwell
in the dead marshes forsaken by all life
here your soul will shiver within the mud
and on the surface your fire shall forever burn
12. Nan Elmoth
There long ago in elder days
ere voice was heard or trod were ways
the haunt of silent shadows stood
in starlight dusk Nan elmoth wood
in elder days that long are gone
a light amidst the shadows shone
a voice was in the silent heard
the sudden singing of a bird
There melian came, the lady grey
and dark and long her dresses lay
beneath her silver griddle seat
and down unto her silver feet
The nightingales with her she brought
to whom their song herself she tought
who sweet upon her gleaming hands
had sung in the immortal lands
Ir ithil ammen eruchin
menel vir sila diriel
si loth a galad lastu din
a hir annun gilthoniel
le linnom im tinuviel
A bird in Nan elmoth wood thrilled
and to listen Thingol stood amazed
then far away he heard
a voice more fair than the fairest bird
a voice as crystal clear of note
as thread of silver glass remote
Thence wayward wandering on a time
from Lorien she dared to climb
the everlasting mountain wall of valinor
at whose feet fall the surges of the shadowy sea
Ir ithil ammen eruchin
menel vir sila diriel
si loth a galad lastu din
a hir annun gilthoniel
le linnom im tinuviel
Alone beneath the wheeling sky
while starlight years on earth pass us by
in Nan elmoth the trees grow dark and tall
the murmuring seas rising and falling on the shore
and Ulmos horn we heed no more
13. Sharp Glance
Under a shade, older than the sun
beneath majestic trees, there lies a shadow
in the dark woods of nan elmoth
dwelleth a noldor maiden enchanted
Once lost was i, in the forest where shadows lie
by my own will i entered, long it took for me to leave
till one day i grew so weary, nearly begged for death to take me
come now my son of twilight, come with me to the kingdom of light
so you forsake your father, ill gotten son
here shall you fail of all your hopes
and here may you die the same death as i
So fled the royal noldor, from the depths of the forest of night
followed by a blazing fury, and the dark elfs wrathful might
in secrecy he stayed behind the two, watching closely each and every move
driven by anger and hate towards the sun, such things he set in motion that could not be undone
Now free am i, from the forest where shadows lie
by my own will i entered, long it took for me to leave
now a dark cloud is behind us, my fears grow deeper still
come now my son of twilight, your father is following us
It is my law that none who finds the way hither shall depart
i acknowledge not your law, no right have you or any of your kin in this land to cease realms or to set bounds either here or there
by the swords of the noldor alone are your sunless woods defended
i care nothing of your secrets and i came not to spy upon you but to clame my own
And so was thrusted the spear of hate and by that deed Eöl sealed his fate
so fell the noldor maiden Aredhel by a blade of poison she was slain
again despair fed the ancient fear to elven kinslayers doom grew near
the dark elf was put to his death on the white cliffs of Garagdur
A curse has been made
wherever you may go
it will follow you
till the end of your days
so you forsake your father, ill gotten son
here shall you fail of all your hopes
and here may you die the same death as i
